Gary says “I
originally drew Cheeky Monkey in 1985 as a Christmas present for my now late
Aunt, Kit Coleman. Sammie was her beloved American Cocker Spaniel and he was a
real cheeky monkey! After my Aunt Kit passed away I decided to update the
drawing. I spent quite a few days bringing it up to my 2005 standard. I
introduced considerably more detail, a much wider tonal range and, I believe,
more character and life. I was then happy to publish it as a limited edition
print and I dedicated it to her memory.
“In 1985 I also drew a
picture for my Dad, my Aunt’s Brother, of his female American Cocker Spaniel,
Sammie’s sister. I updated that drawing in 2002 and released it as a limited
edition, Butter wouldn’t melt. I dedicated it to his memory.”
