Gary says “Jaff was our rescued Border Collie who we
lived with for nearly 14 years. Many of my earlier drawings were done with him
lying patiently under my drawing table until I was ready to take him for his
two walks a day. I say walks, but the reality was more like Frisbee frenzy!
“I
had done a drawing of him around 1986 and when he died in October 1995, I
decided to up-date it to give me a positive focus. It did help a little. We
were so pleased with the drawing, my partner and I published it as an edition
for Wildlife. The Jaff print raised around £34,000 which went to help feed
starving domesticated Elephants in Kaziranga National park in India, a Tiger campaign
and an Orang-utan research project in Borneo.
“Jaff
is unique, being my only print to have any colour in it; one pale blue eye and
one chocolate brown and just a touch of pink above his nose. Just like dear old
Jaff.”
